How We Helped Drive Successful Futures
Each year, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America helps millions of kids across the country by creating safe environments, delivering engaging programs, and pairing children with mentors to help positively impact and brighten their future. And while these clubs do an excellent job providing kids and teens with the tools they need to succeed, the organization still faces challenges.
One challenge is transportation. And that's where we come in! Through the Driving Great Futures program, Bridgestone Retail Operations (BSRO) proudly raised almost $4 million in 2019 for Boys & Girls Clubs of America and awarded 110 transportation grants to Boys & Girls Clubs in need. Additionally, over two thousand hours of company time were donated along with new vehicles to ensure that transportation is one less thing standing in the way of brighter futures!
Making Transportation Issues A Thing of the Past
Of the 110 grants given to the organization, thirty were used to purchase new vans fitted with Bridgestone Ecopia fuel-efficient tires to ensure that transportation is not just reliable, it's economical!
Boys & Girls Clubs of America President Jim Clark stated, "Getting to and from our Clubs is one of the biggest obstacles families face, and Bridgestone is helping us overcome this by providing reliable transportation.” These new vans will not only help serve the organization but also help provide relief for families who could benefit from reliable transportation.
The remaining grants were used for service and maintenance on current Boys & Girls Clubs vans, furthering Tires Plus belief that the right maintenance can keep everyone in the driver's seat – and passenger seats!
The Road Doesn't End Here
Boys & Girls Clubs President and CEO Jim Clark notes that there's been "an increase in new members and daily attendance which tells us this program is making the difference we needed." But the road to building better futures doesn't end here!
